I was at a friend’s wedding in San Francisco last month and as the evening began to wind down, the couple’s DJ and a handful of bridesmaids urged guests to take the reception centerpieces home. Many were scooped up but inevitably, a few stragglers were left on tables and presumably thrown away. TableArt, a floral and event design studio located near Philadelphia, has created a centerpiece recycling program to remedy situations just like that. Couples who book TableArt for their wedding flowers can also opt to add their Green Heart service for a nominal fee (usually around $100 to cover the cost of delivery). The bride and groom select where their flowers are delivered once the wedding is over—maybe to an organization they support, a business they work with, a local hospital, or even to a friend who could use some cheering up. At the end of the wedding reception, the flowers are repurposed into new vessels and delivered to the specified location the following day. Brilliant idea, no?
