There is a green revolution out there; a green lifestyle that is fast emerging in the modern times that can begin in your own homes. The community and activists are practicing it and everyday more and more are joining this step to sustain mother earth – our one source for survival and longevity.

But in a vast scene, this type of phenomenon, which can be practiced in detail can start in your own ways. We just have to know how to practice the lifestyle properly. Going Green is at the palm of our hands. There is much offer of a green lifestyle today that you can have or do even under your own roof. RECYCLING is one of the main keys of going Green.

There is much trash produced in the world and many dump sites are almost filled with mans unwanted objects of industrialization. Things that will haunt us for a very, very long time because they are not biodegradable, but there is a lot of hope because of recycling. Papers with blank pages at the back can still be used as scratch papers, old containers can be filled again with other things as long as they have similar chemical component and use, and used grocery plastics can be used again for other things.

What one can do, too is to bring green bags (some groceries have them for free) or your own re-usable bags for your items. You could even look more fashionable and at the same time as you put up that cool sunglass, you’re one proud mamma, doing your part in saving the environment. Then there are the banana peels, orange peels or fish remains from your dinner last night.

Look outside your window, you might be forgetting that there is an empty space with soil at your garden waiting to be fed with your biodegradable trash. Mister early worm will surely be welcoming. Your smiling flowers or baby vegetables will need the compost from your excess food. It would really be interesting sharing your food with your plants and flowers. After all, they are part of the family.

For some more knowledgeable and technical homes a family can also use materials that are earth friendly. There are solar powered roofs developed nowadays for an alternative source of energy at home or bio fueled cars that can be used for cars. Using CFL lights can also help save energy at home.

But of course, after all these practices have been mentioned, there are still the basic things that we should not forget like turning off the water while brushing your teeth, turning off the lights or any electric appliance when not in use, and the very primitive way of walking when your trip is not that far. This can even be a way of exercise to limit those aching muscles at night.

This going green lifestyle does not only make you a hero to mother earth but also a hero to your grandchildren. If your four-cornered structure is colored by a going green way then a harmonious HOME is achieved with a spark of hope for a cleaner future.

Going green or saving the environment is up there with ending wars and finding a cure to cancer in this generations top priorities. Not only is going green a significant and widespread issue, it is also one of the most popular advocacies of the present. Many top companies have adopted going green policies as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

For example, a top bottling company is making serious efforts to make their trucks hybrids as to consume less fuel and release fewer chemicals into the air. Other companies have also adopted policies such as turning off electricity during specific times in the day, as well as lessening paper trail by using email and paperless transit more.

The importance of keeping our environment in a livable state is so important that it has crept in popular media. Renowned horror movie director M. Night Shyamalan just came out with a movie called, The Happening where plants turn against the human species in self defense it was something of an exaggerated scenario of what the future could be like if we do not take care of our planet.

Going green is also incorporated in films specifically targeted towards a younger audience. This makes sense because we need to educate the next generation on how vital it is to save the environment. Oscar-winning animated film, Happy Feet begins as a coming-of-age movie about an odd penguin, but ends up becoming the penguin species cry for help because their supply of food, which is mainly fish, is going scarce. Excessive pollution is also endangering their seas.

Sea and water pollution was also touched on by blockbuster hit Finding Nemo. The film showed how illegal and excessive fishing, as well as pollution, and the presence of plastic in our bodies of water are detrimental. Even though going green is not the main theme of the movie, its important that kids today learn that even small acts can affect how the earth is evolving.

But the latest Disney animated movie, which also made a lot of movie in the cinemas is the futuristic film, Wall-E. The film is set in a planet earth devoid of human species, flora and fauna. The protagonist of the film is a trash-collector robot who spends all its time building structures made of garbage. It is eventually revealed that the humans are in space in an intergalactic cruise waiting for a sign that the earth is once more livable. The movie is blatantly sending a message to take care of todays earth so that it wont become the earth in the movie.

Incorporating going green themes in films is a great strategy of bringing the message that we need to do something to help save our environment as soon as possible. Lots of people from different demographics, nationalities, and ages are going to watch these films and will hopefully be struck by the going green themes.

It is important to remember that no matter where you are in the world and no matter how small the steps you make in going green, every little thing counts.

There is much in this life that we could truly enjoy in a spic and span environment – an ordered system of lifestyle and a cultivated surrounding. This is what going green is all about.

Planet earth is now in its critical stage. Forests are denuded, mountains are destroyed, rivers have been polluted and many other environmental issues are bombarding humanity. With the fast paced technology and its developments, its forefather, industrialization is also running fast with the dark changing times of our planet.

Just as the color suggests green instigates a spark of hope with the catastrophe that is happening to our dear environment. The paradise of beautiful flowers, colorful insects and butterflies, and free-flowing rivers may not all be visualized again in a perfect picture, but at least going green slowly prevents the complete destruction of this planet.

This is a call, a responsibility – a vocation for each one of us residing in this once very beautiful planet. But due to mans selfish motives and uncouth practices, trees are now dead logs, rivers are now fatal, and that once fresh air is now like a ghost roaming the polluted city.

There are just many things we could do for mother earth. Going green is as easy as 1 2 3

One: start with your own self. Discipline is very important; before you reach out to other people, you have to practice first on what you preach. Start by throwing your pieces of trash in the proper place or putting that small piece of paper in your pocket when mister bin is nowhere to be found. Segregate properly. There are many places nowadays that practice trash segregation and as an individual it is but right to follow this program. Stop in front of those colorful trash cans, take a moment and bring your trash to its proper home.

Two: Pay it forward. Be a responsible adult or child. Always remember the things learned in school. Be an example to others – to your sons and daughters, to your siblings and especially to your friends. Living righteously for the environment is worth it even if they call you a geek. This is a long term solution even for those persecutors. Your every step is equally important for them. Maybe, just maybe, being an example can bring the practice into a whole new network of people who are also paying it forward.

Three: Reach out to the community. They say it takes two to tango but think about a group of people in a ballroom, enjoying themselves on the dance floor. Just like dancing, you may have different ways: tango, boogie or cha-cha. Helping out with the community natural fertilizer, joining the weekly community clean up, helping out with your schools environmental club.

Young or old, we each have our chance to take part in this green revolution for our mother earth. And if we dance harmoniously, there may be an aesthetic result in the future. Our performance as humans today in helping to save the environment is a great artistry each can offer to our childrens future.

Ready Set Green!

Imagine driving a car on big highway on your side, when you look outside the window you see green trees and animals jumping and dancing in their beautiful habitat. The clouds are smiling and the air is embracing you with a fresh cold feeling. On the other side of the window is a view of a clogged river, dead fishes in the ocean, cut down trees and smog that makes them all a blurry scene.

In the middle of the road, the yellow light is on, you have a choice either to stop and just let this two contradicting scenes remain as an extreme dream to imagine or you go green and look for ways to change the other side of the road. It may not be as perfect on the other side, but at least you still have the middle road to divide that once perfect view and the present smoggy scene.

Before its too late, the going green should be our guiding light to the problem. Many institutions, organizations and individuals are getting into this move and lifestyle. Simply put, it is a way to help preserve mother earth. The mass destruction has made this planet almost reach its end and as part of the race that caused this, going green is the way to go.

There are a lot of ways in which people could help out in this move. In their own homes, schools, communities and companies, there is a unifying goal that could guide each program or project launched. It is to maintain what we have left and to think of ways in which we could still keep up with the pace of the changing technological times but at the same time help preserve the planet earth.

There is already much information discussed and disseminated about going green but besides this practical aspects, most importantly, it should start from within. One should first have concern, this is important because once a person cares, other values would follow and practices will be done better. Patience is a virtue. This is another important thing one must have in going green. The destruction has already been massive and it might take time to bind the harmonious ties between mother earth and humankind.

Next is consistency. Accompany this with patience and our problem will sure come to an end in the future. With these values, hopes are up for a green future. We all just have to keep going and going, and consider that once, our earth was beautiful and what we have left today can still be retained if we all just take a while and be concerned about the problems and the things that we do.

In the middle of the road, with the yellow light on, you have a choice whether to stop and just let it all happen, or go on with your head up and values ready as you continue with the green light. There is still a wide and long road ahead but the end is worth driving for.

Helping the environment and going green is not as hard as it sounds. It is not even remotely difficult. It just calls for many small, minor changes in our lifestyles and you will be surprised at how much impact you can generate by going green.

Helping the environment and going green is not as hard as it sounds. It is not even remotely difficult. It just calls for many small, minor changes in our lifestyles and you will be surprised at how much impact you can generate by going green.

The first aspect in your life where you can practice going green is in your transportation. With gas prices steadily rising and being expected to increase over the years, going green with your mode of transportation seems a pretty logical idea. Not only do you save money, but you save the environment as well. Try green transportation by using a bicycle or your God-given legs. Keep your car in tune and practice good driving. A well-kept car uses less gas than a car in poor condition. If you can imagine a life without your car, sell it!

Go for quality and not for quantity. When buying items, dont make price your highest priority, consider if the item youre buying is going to last you for the long term. Buying cheap may help you save in the short term, but going green in your purchases will save you money in the long run. Make sure also that your ordinary household items are recyclable such as tissue paper.

Water is another aspect in which going green practices are important. Do your laundry only when you have a full load of clothes. Otherwise, youre just wasting energy, soap, and your own effort. Search your home for water leaks and have them repaired right away. Not only will it save your money on water bills, it also helps conserve water for future use. Another way of going green is by changing your showerhead to a lower one. A lower shower head uses less water to get to your body. This also saves you time.

Learn how to conserve electricity. Unplug appliances that are not in use. You can change all your light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs or CFLs. Australia has applied this going green change which means this is not impossible. Learn how to dispose of your bulbs properly, as well as your used batteries. If you have changed cell phones over the years, donate your mobile phones and batteries for proper recycling.

You should know that not all household cleaning materials should be bought from the grocery or supermarket. Going green with your household products can mean using soap, vinegar and baking soda as cleaning ingredients. This not only means less expense for you, but less chemicals released in our environment.

Sleep early and go to bed early. This may seem like a foreign concept in this modern age but sleeping early means less electricity consumption. Turn off unused lights before going to bed and wake up early to take advantage of the natural light of the sun. You can also have a healthy dose of vitamin E while youre at it.

Going Green and the Modern Bayong

In a country in Asia, the Philippines, earlier people have their own use and version of a basket. Generally this is what they call a bayong. This is often used by people who go to the market or the farm to get fresh fruits and vegetables. It is a term used for a woven basket made out of buri, bamboo or rattan. During the Japanese occupation in the country, this was also used as face cover for the Makapilis or Filipino soldiers who were hiding from the Japanese Invaders.

But in the contemporary time, this sisidlan as others may call it, is now innovated as more stylish bags and its concept as a reusable bag is promoted in many stores. Using cacha or that cloth similar with to the flour bag material, consumers can now avail of the modern day concept bayong. Others may use a different material for the bags, but the concept of being reusable may be compared to this local object from Asia.

From this we could also say that the older times may already have the concept of going green but with a faster paced lifestyle nowadays, plastics are more used for less hassle and time consumed in purchasing things. The use of this modern object is one step in cooperating with the going green lifestyle. It can be used not only in going to the markets, but also in other shopping trips. This can help lessen the use of plastic bags and the things that could clog waterways and fill the trash dumpsites.

The creation of this bayong is actually an export industry in the Philippines, but in going green its concept as a reusable bag can be a major participative move for consumers all over the world. It is a global solution as it lessens the amount of non biodegradable trash in cities and makes consumers as responsible caretakers of the environment.

Going Green is a step we all have to make, especially as part of this whole system in the modern times where technology and advances in consumerism and lifestyle bring about a destruction to the planet earth, which once took care of almost everything we need as humans. But with mankinds great mind, this advanced lifestyle we have now has resulted to high price to pay. We may not experience free flowing rivers and greener pastures in the future if we will not care about taking a step to help solve the major problems of trash and pollution.

The promotion of this practice and concept from Asia is a global step to help mother earth. This is a move we all have to make. This is a call for families and shopaholics. Going to the mall and shopping is a responsibility, too. Reuse your shopping bags and take care of the environment. Going green should really be a lifestyle. It should be taken by heart and practiced by people who do not only want to help save the planet but also care about the future of the next generation.

Buildings and offices are just some of structures that take part in this whole idea of industrialization. And they are also a big contribution to our city trash, so this article presents ways on how (yes we know we are all victims of the system and cannot really fight the effects of industrialization) offices can take part in the move of going green in their own baby steps. On each floor of the building one department could have one way of helping out mother earth.

On the first floor, officers should use CFLs for their lights. With the same quality this would help save energy consumption in the office. On the second floor, papers with black pages at the back can still be used for non-formal print outs or as scratch papers for notes. Old folders and labels can also be reused. There would be less trash, less expenses for the department. On the kitchen area, own mugs for each employee should be practiced than using plastic or paper cups from coffee dispenser machines. A minimized or scheduled use of the air conditioning system and other electronic gadgets can also be practiced to help conserve energy on the building.

There are also water energy, energy efficient and indoor environmentally friendly office materials and equipments that company can follow and use to join the move of going green. There are also the bio fuels developed that companies can use for their cars and company trucks. The use of this kind of fuel is providing a healthier air to many people, and like returning a favor to consumers and ordinary citizens their right for a cleaner environment.

On the outside of a building, the proper segregation of waste is also one major factor on how offices, buildings and companies could help out in going green. In the city scene most especially, the people are one of the major contributors of waste. With the ways mentioned above, they could also reduce, reuse, and recycle through segregation of their trash in all departments. This will reduce the production of trash. Reusing old electronic equipments or even donating them to communities in need can also help reduce the amount of non-bio degradable trash produced. In general, the whole concept of a RECYCLING program means a company can somehow promote a healthier environment to live in.

Ways mentioned are an ideal dream for some companies who often care only about their businesses. But going green is not only a vocation to ordinary citizens but for them also because these companies and offices are also part of the inhibitors of the planet earth. We share the same air, water source and all the kinds of energy. They maybe up in those tall tower buildings and using the most high technology equipment but we are one in having the responsibility in taking care of the planet earth. A better habitat means a better cooperation from each one of us. With proper project planning and implementation, companies and offices can also take part in making this world a better place to live in.

Most people like traveling and taking a break every now and then. Vacations are something of a reward for hard work and its a chance to relax and be with your loved ones. Did you know that you could incorporate going green activities and habits while on vacation? Its not as complicated as it sounds. There are simple things that you can do to help the environment even if you’re far from home.

You can take the first step in a green vacation by choosing a green destination. Log on to the Internet and check out places and destinations that are greener than most look out for human traffic and ecological state while making your choice. You can opt to take a mission vacation where you go to a destination and engage in activities where you can help out the local activity.

Choosing a local destination is also a great move in going green. When you travel within the country or within your state, you also help tourism as you spend fewer resources in transportation. You can always choose a good national park and get yourself re-acquainted with nature.

You can also go green with your choice of board and lodging. There are hotels all over the world that try to employ going green principles. Don’t go for expensive hotels but choose cost-efficient and energy-conserving lodging areas. If you have friends and family in the area, you can opt to stay with them this does not only lessen your costs, but also helps expend less energy.

Another choice where you can employ environment-friendly decisions is your mode of transportation. Traveling by air definitely eats up more fuel. If possible, choose to travel by train. Its cheaper, more earth-friendly, and definitely interesting. Not only are you practicing going green, you’re also enjoying more scenery and meeting a lot of different people.

If you do decide to travel by plane, you can still help the environment by packing lightly. Choose only items that you need and pack a few key pieces of clothing. You can always do your laundry at your destination area. This helps the environment because the lighter the plane, the less fuel it uses.

While enjoying your vacation and seeing different sights, go green by lessening or eliminating your use of bottled water. Bring a water container which you can fill up with water or your choice of drink at restaurants and drinking stations. By doing this, you lessen the presence of plastic in the environment.

As you go back to your home, most people will bring along souvenirs for themselves and their friends and family back home. Choose souvenirs wisely sometimes the stuff we bring home is worth less than the amount of resources spent to get it from one place to another. Bring back only items that are really special and hard to find.

If you want to find out more on how you can travel and still help keep the environment safe for the future, get to the Internet and check out http://planetgreen.discovery.com/go-green/green-index/travel-outdoors-guides.html.

The office is another place where you can employ going green practices. As with most green habits, it doesn’t take a genius to apply those small things that make a difference.

The office is another place where you can employ going green practices. As with most green habits, it doesn’t take a genius to apply those small things that make a difference. To make your efforts more effective, share them with your co-workers and together, you all can make a difference in your work place.

One aspect where you can apply going green is in your main tool at work the computer. Set your computer to settings that save more energy. Putting your computer on stand by is not enough as it still sucks in energy even when not in use. Make sure that you unplug other equipment that you don’t use often such as printers and scanners. Turn off your office computer before you leave for home. This helps a lot in saving energy.

Thanks to technology, we can almost leave a paperless trail in our work. Learn how to digitize more and use less paper. If possible, use email to communicate instead of sending out letters. Instead of handing out outlines of your report, use a software application for your presentation and share your portable flash drive to coworkers who might need the file. Because using no paper is most probably impossible, try to lessen it by printing on used paper for unimportant documents. This way, two sides are maximized.

When choosing paper for your purchase, check out the content and see if it is recyclable and has low amounts of chlorine. Other office items such as pencils, markers, and tissue paper can come from recyclable materials.

You can also make a difference in the clothing that you choose to wear. Opt to get work clothes that don’t need to be dry cleaned as this process spends a lot of energy. If you’re buying new clothes, choose items which use organic and natural fibers.

Transportation is a major cause of pollution and fuel consumption. To lessen your contribution of harmful chemicals, try going green when commuting to work. If you live nearby, try riding a bicycle or perhaps, just walk. If co-workers leave near you, set a carpool system, so you can save on gas money and fuel consumption as well.

Technology now allows us to work at home through email, instant messaging, video conferencing and the like. You can try proposing to your boss a once-a-week work-from-home day to further practice going green. You can save on energy expenses, transportation expenditures, paper, and a whole lot more just by incorporating this going green work practice. You can also try a ten-hour work day instead of working 8 hours a day. This will not only give you an extra day to rest but it saves a lot of energy.

Try redecorating your office, so that it maximizes that use of natural light. Not only does doing this help your electric costs go down, sunlight has been proven to increase productivity. Invest in good, clean air through proper ventilation, sturdy furniture to last years, and green sources of light.
Do you have kids? This is the perfect time to decide on going green. In the formative years of a child’s life it is important to provide your kid with learning activities and organic foods.

Do you have kids? This is the perfect time to decide on going green. In the formative years of a child’s life it is important to provide your kid with learning activities and organic foods. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects three to five percent of children. Studies say that lessening the amount of color additives and preservatives in an ADHD child should be a vital part in treatment.

If your child has ADHD, consult with your doctor about diet changes that you can incorporate. For example, try eliminating refined sugar and a lot of carbohydrates are known to intensify ADHD and lessen mental focus. Also, studies show that deficiency in essential fatty acids (EFA) is largely connected to cases of ADHD. This means that cutting on junk food and other processed products should be good for your child.

Obesity is also an important issue in childrens health today. According to studies made by the Center for Disease Control, eighty percent of overweight children ages 10-15 will grow up to obese by the time they reach the age of 25. To prevent your child from becoming another part of that statistic, there are several going green activities, which you can adopt in order to keep your child healthy.

One aspect where you can try going green is in your childs diet. Instead of letting him or her eat everyday at the school cafeteria, try packing a green and well-rounded meal. It may take more time, but is worth the cost in the long run. Teach your child the value of enjoying meals by having dinner as a whole family. Sitting down to eat and enjoying company helps children to learn to eat slowly and to eat with pleasure and not just chomp down the food.

Another way of going green is to get your kids involved in nature activities. This will not only help keep them active and but provide them with exercise. It also instills the importance of the environment.

To keep your kids healthy physically and mentally, try cutting down on TV time. Studies show that being in front of the television is hugely connected to large consumption of junk food and overall inactivity. The same idea goes for other electronic-based activity such as computer games and video games. By lessening these activities, you keep your child on the go and lessening your consumption of electricity as well.

Growing your own food is also a good way of going green and it guarantees that you and your family get to eat healthy and fresh food most of the time. This is also cuts down resources by lessening the travel cycle of how to get the food from your ground and onto the table. Tomatoes and lettuces are such vegetables which you can grow successfully indoors.

To keep your kids involved, you can assign them tasks of watering the crops. Its almost guaranteed that they will appreciate food more once they know the value of producing it. To know more about growing your own food, check out http://planetgreen.discovery.com/food-health/grow-food-indoors.html.
