The Importance Of Going Green

russ on flowers green 9 The Importance Of Going GreenGoing green or saving the environment is up there with ending wars and finding a cure to cancer in this generations top priorities. Not only is going green a significant and widespread issue, it is also one of the most popular advocacies of the present. Many top companies have adopted going green policies as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

For example, a top bottling company is making serious efforts to make their trucks hybrids as to consume less fuel and release fewer chemicals into the air. Other companies have also adopted policies such as turning off electricity during specific times in the day, as well as lessening paper trail by using email and paperless transit more.

The importance of keeping our environment in a livable state is so important that it has crept in popular media. Renowned horror movie director M. Night Shyamalan just came out with a movie called, The Happening where plants turn against the human species in self defense it was something of an exaggerated scenario of what the future could be like if we do not take care of our planet.

Going green is also incorporated in films specifically targeted towards a younger audience. This makes sense because we need to educate the next generation on how vital it is to save the environment. Oscar-winning animated film, Happy Feet begins as a coming-of-age movie about an odd penguin, but ends up becoming the penguin species cry for help because their supply of food, which is mainly fish, is going scarce. Excessive pollution is also endangering their seas.

Sea and water pollution was also touched on by blockbuster hit Finding Nemo. The film showed how illegal and excessive fishing, as well as pollution, and the presence of plastic in our bodies of water are detrimental. Even though going green is not the main theme of the movie, its important that kids today learn that even small acts can affect how the earth is evolving.

But the latest Disney animated movie, which also made a lot of movie in the cinemas is the futuristic film, Wall-E. The film is set in a planet earth devoid of human species, flora and fauna. The protagonist of the film is a trash-collector robot who spends all its time building structures made of garbage. It is eventually revealed that the humans are in space in an intergalactic cruise waiting for a sign that the earth is once more livable. The movie is blatantly sending a message to take care of todays earth so that it wont become the earth in the movie.

Incorporating going green themes in films is a great strategy of bringing the message that we need to do something to help save our environment as soon as possible. Lots of people from different demographics, nationalities, and ages are going to watch these films and will hopefully be struck by the going green themes.

It is important to remember that no matter where you are in the world and no matter how small the steps you make in going green, every little thing counts.
